The Role
This is an opportunity for a dynamic IT Apprentice to join a fast growing IT Managed Service Provider. The role will be based within our Cyber Team, working on tickets and directly assisting customers. Initially office-based with scope to work on-site.
Due to expected growth within the business, the suitable candidate will progress into a permanent Cyber Security Engineer in the future.
General duties will include:
Responding to customer issues via ticketing system, phone, and email.
Working to defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Assisting with network device support and troubleshooting (Cisco, Meraki, HP).
Supporting switching, firewall, and router configurations and diagnostics.
Troubleshooting Windows Server environments (2012/2016/2019/2022).
Supporting Windows endpoint issues (Windows 7, 10, 11).
Assisting with Office 365 administration and setup.
Participating in general TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, and VPN troubleshooting.
Maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Defender for Business across customer estates, ensuring correct installation and integration with Datto RMM.
Handling alerts from Huntress MDR, ITDR, and SIEM platforms, including triage, resolution, and escalation.
Communicating with customers regarding alert status and remediation steps.
Supporting day-to-day vulnerability management using tools like Qualys, Defender for Business, and occasionally Nessus.
Assisting with the setup, maintenance, and reporting of phishing simulations across customer environments.
Using dashboards and security tools to identify indicators of compromise (IoCs) and investigate suspicious activity.
Collaborating with senior engineers on cyber incidents, containment, and remediation efforts.
Supporting basic VMware environments (knowledge desirable but not required).
Building strong relationships with customers through clear communication.
About You
You will ideally have:
A strong interest in cyber security and a willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Good critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
A proactive attitude and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A valid UK driving license.
