The Hiscox cyber team is made up of four underwriters working hand in hand with a well-integrated support team of pricing actuaries, claims, and wording resources. Hiscox also benefits from central training and expertise at a group level as well as exposure management support.
The Opportunity:
We are looking for an underwriter to join the cyber team, where we write 'big ticket' cyber and technology E&O policies, both on a primary and excess basis. Business is generally written on an open market basis, as well as some excess layer facilities. The team is working on growth opportunities, with ambitions to increase the size of the portfolio over the next 5 years, and the successful candidate will be joining a team on the outset of this exciting journey.
The ideal candidate is at the beginning of their career, looking for their first or second underwriting role, and has experience in the cyber insurance market as a broker, underwriter or assistant underwriter. This role provides an excellent career and knowledge development opportunity. You will be part of a leading team with a broad appetite, ambitions for growth and embracing innovative opportunities. You will be exposed to a wide variety of US, UK and international risks that make it into the London market, both on an insurance and reinsurance basis. You will work with and learn from a team of experienced underwriters in a fast-paced environment, interacting with some of the most innovative large global companies.
Key Responsibilities:Underwrite new and renewal risks within our key segments and according to the set underwriting appetite. You will start from underwriting simpler risks and long-standing renewals, and over time progress to underwriting all segments and risks with all levels of complexities Attend and participate in client meetings Develop and maintain close relationships with partner brokers and clients Execute on underwriting and sales initiatives to grow the portfolio Position yourself and Hiscox as a go-to market for cyber insurance in Lloyd's

What We're Looking For:Experience in the cyber insurance market Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with clients, industry leaders, and team members Strong negotiation skills and a passion for creating new and better ways for Hiscox to succeed Self-starter with a high level of achievement Decisive nature with good judgment and accountability Great organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and work in a fast-paced environment Good mathematical and analytical skills Progress in ACII examinations or a commitment to complete them

Nice to have:Prior experience of underwriting cyber insurance Educated to degree level or non-graduates with demonstrable relevant experience and excellent A' levels

Work Environment:Office-based for at least 3 days a week Potential requirement for occasional overseas business travel
