Berkeley Farm Dairy is a fast growing family run business specializing in the production of high quality organic milk, cream, butter, yogurt and kefir. We produce and distribute our products to domestic customers and also to large commercial outlets and supermarkets.
We are looking for someone to act as culturing operative to competently manage the process of producing kefir.
The job involves:
Preparing, running and cleaning the silos and tanks, and preparing them for culturing of the product.
Ensuring good communication with the team and wider group.
Training and supervising the team to assist in culturing when required.
Applicants must have experience in:
Preparing, adding and heating cultures to produce Kefir.
Calculating quantity and adding necessary flavours to product without compromising product.
Assisting in smooth running of production process, from preparing milk in silos, to finished packed bottles of Kefir ready for transport.
Operating dairy production machinery.
Working within a fast paced, hands on environment
The applicant must have the following traits:
Proven experience and knowledge of culture activity and behaviour in the production of Kefir.
A high level of common sense in operating machinery.
A good work ethic and ability to work fast and encourage others to do the same.
An attitude that puts the business first to ensure that product gets produced on time even if this means working long hours.
Working Hours: 12 hour shifts, 40 hours a week over a two week cycle.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: 18.00 per hour
