Job Summary
To work as part of a team in a fast-paced dairy processing environment, operating machinery and performing tasks essential for the production, packaging, and quality assurance of dairy products (e.g., milk, cheese, yoghurt, butter). The role is physically demanding and requires a high level of commitment to hygiene, safety, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Production Line Operations: Operate and monitor dairy processing and packaging machinery (e.g., pasteurisers, separators, fillers, cappers). Ensure lines run smoothly and efficiently.
Manual Handling & Tasks: Perform manual tasks including stacking, packing, palletising finished goods, and handling raw materials. Load and unload items from production lines.
Quality Control: Conduct routine quality checks (e.g., weights, seals, temperatures, visual inspections) as per standard procedures. Report any product or quality issues immediately to the supervisor.
Hygiene & Cleaning: Follow strict hygiene protocols. Perform cleaning and sanitisation of equipment and production areas (Clean-in-Place / Clean-out- of-Place systems) to meet the highest dairy industry and food safety standards (e.g., BRC, SALSA)
Health & Safety: Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Participate in a culture of safety by reporting hazards and near misses.
Efficiency & Waste Reduction: Work to production targets and schedules.
Minimise product waste and downtime.
Documentation: Accurately complete production, quality, and cleaning records as required.
Teamwork: Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Support colleagues to achieve daily production goals.
Person Specification:
Essential :
Reliability and a strong work ethic with the ability to work a minimum of 3 long days (10+ hours) per week.
Physical fitness and stamina to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and handle heavy items (e.g., lifting up to 25kg).
Ability to work in a cold, wet, and noisy factory environment.
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, safe food products.
Good basic numeracy and literacy skills for following instructions and completing records.
A proactive attitude towards safety and hygiene.
Ability to work well as part of a team.
Desirable (training may be provided) :
Previous experience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or a dairy environment.
Knowledge of basic food hygiene principles (Level 2 Food Safety certificate is advantageous).
Experience operating factory machinery.
Forklift truck licence (may be required for some roles).
