Join The Roberts Centre and become part of a team dedicated to transforming the lives of children and families across Portsmouth, Havant and Gosport. For over 36 years, we have supported families facing homelessness, relationship breakdowns and other challenges, helping them build safe and stable futures. If you want to gain tutoring experience while making a real impact, this is the role for you!

Your Role & Responsibilities:

Lead or assist with simple dance and movement sessions using music, rhythm games and imaginative play suited to nursery-aged children. Encourage children to express themselves through movement while building coordination, body awareness and group interaction. Adapt sessions to suit a range of physical and sensory needs, including those of children with SENCO support, with guidance from staff. Prepare and set up a safe space for movement activities, including mats or props as needed, and ensure the environment is tidy afterwards. Work alongside nursery staff to ensure sessions run in line with daily routines and meet the developmental needs of the children. Support children who may be reluctant to join in by modelling positive behaviour, encouragement and patience. Follow all health and safety procedures during physical activities to reduce risk of accidents and ensure a safe environment. Observe and report any safeguarding concerns or a child's behaviour to the Nursery Manager or senior nursery staff without delay. Participate in relevant training provided by The Roberts Centre, including safeguarding, supporting children with additional needs and health and safety.

Who We're Looking For:

Interest in movement, physical development, early years education and learning through rhythm and songs. Ability to engage young children in movement sessions. Confidence to lead activities in a calm, enthusiastic and child-centered way. Good communication skills and a helpful attitude. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Friendly, approachable, patient and personable. Respectful of confidentiality and sensitive information. Committed to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing. Willingness to learn and attend training as needed.
