Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as a Data Analyst where you will be supporting analytics workstreams by gathering requirements, conducting analysis, and assisting with implementation, and collaborating with colleagues across teams to deliver data-driven insights that inform decision-making.
The Data Analyst reports to the Principal Data Analyst, and the role is aligned to the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework: https://ddat-capability-framework.service.gov.uk/role/data-analyst#data-analyst

Job description
Key Responsibilities:
In this role you will be responsible for the following;
Applying a range of analytical tools and techniques to explore and interpret data.
Assisting in the development and monitoring of measurement frameworks, including Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Conducting structured analysis and contributing to cross-functional analytical projects.
Using established technical tools and techniques to support data analysis.
Ensuring the accuracy, quality, and appropriate use of data and analysis.
Creating data visualisations and dashboards using business intelligence tools to communicate findings effectively.
Working with data engineers and product teams to support data collection, migration, and integration across systems.
Cleaning, aggregating, and preparing data for analysis.
Presenting data and insights in accessible formats tailored to different audiences.

Flexible Working
At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. As standard, we work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and our headquarters in Bedford will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs, but personal and other relevant circumstances will also be considered. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.

Person specification
You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience.
Experience in using data visualisation tools, particularly Power BI, to effectively present insights
Experience in data analysis within public and/or private sector organisations.
Familiarity with Agile delivery environments and collaborative working practices.
Proficiency in techniques for analysing data and generating actionable insights.
Experience in using programming languages such as Python and SQL.
Strong communication skills to translate data into clear, compelling narratives.
Understanding of business objectives and how to measure performance against them.
Awareness of data validation and verification processes.
Ability to manage competing priorities and work within constraints.
Understanding of data privacy and security principles.
Familiarity with data governance and management practices.
Awareness of data modelling, cleansing, and enrichment techniques.
Knowledge of data quality assurance methods.
