Data Architect

Job role:

To lead on the design and implementation of data structures to integrate BIM implementation project data to meet the operational needs of the client. To deliver strategies that drive consistent robust and effective approaches to data and its quality. Manage the programme of works to deliver data quality improvements and ensure appropriate controls are in place in line with the clients data management standards. This role will lead through his/her proven expertise in synthesizing data utilizing Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Autodesk Construction Cloud Insight, and other individual as well as integrated systems.

Key Accountabilities:

• Data architecture for BIM implementation project - strategically assess and design the data structures in the relevant systems to enable the business to pick up, store and report on data at the correct level of granularity.

• Creating the correct structures, governance and processes for BIM implementation project team to enable reporting and data quality improvements and in compliance with National Gas Data Principles and future Data roadmap.

• Collaborate with Data team to set the principles, policies and standards and for data design, ensuring a consistent approach is adopted across BAU and business change.

• Implement Data Profiling activities and analysis to support the business in defining the data definitions.

• Ensure an effective Data Issue Management process exists. Supporting root cause analysis to resolve data related quality, system and business process issues.

• Deliver reports and a balanced scorecard for data quality and data management for key stakeholders and governance groups to guide the direction of travel.

Approach

• Work with stakeholders to anticipate future data needs and understand the associated challenges with a view to creating a data structure design to meet these requirements.

• Influence key stakeholders in the adoption of the recommended data design.

• Taking the role of subject matter expert within BIM implementation project team for data related matters.

Knowledge:

• Highly technically literate in systems and data.

• Have an in-depth understanding of leading practice for structuring data and be able to identify the appropriate technologies and solutions to use in a given scenario.

• Extensive experience of the analysis and design of Data Warehouse, BI, Data Analytics or complex Data Migration solutions, including analysing source systems, designing ETL routines, resolving DQ issues, designing relational and dimensional models (conceptual and logical), developing reporting and analytical layers.

• An analytical approach, with demonstrable ability to understand complex processes, to identify and extract key information from systems and individuals, identify deficiencies and recommend actions for correction and improvement.

• Evidence of creativity and innovation in the development of solutions and experience with a range of both client problems and a variety of solutions.

• Excellent attention to detail, ability to prioritise and organise.

• Deep knowledge of BIM and Data Analytics.

• Construction knowledge, with the ability to be able to apply information management solutions in the context of complex infrastructure projects.

• Proven experience in information management environments, with emphasis on system data and maintenance optimization, performance improvements, digital technology innovation and benefit realization.

• Continually support the project to ensure that implementation partners and BIM-Engineers are delivering BIM requirements as outlined.

• Provide leadership and coaching to junior BIM Technicians and Engineers to guide their development of critical industry knowledge and understanding of corporate standards. This mentoring will aid in their growth and prepare them to be self-sustaining on future projects.
