DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Data Center Facility Engineer to join our expanding Data Centers (DC) Cloud regions, with the role based in Berkshire. Facility Engineer is a hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operation responder.

As a Facility Engineer, you will operate and maintain AWS DCs\' world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure following a process oriented approach. In addition, you will oversee facility operations and ensure the implementation of safety procedures.

Key job responsibilities
SAFETY

- Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture.

ENGINEERING & FACILITY OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE

- Operate and maintain mechanical and electrical, mechanical, emergency generator, HVAC and fire/life safety equipment within the data center
- You will be supporting electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS\'s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS\'s), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD\'s), and Transformers.
- Troubleshoot facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
- Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures
- Drive innovation while reducing operational costs in the facilities

A day in the life
- Work rotational shifts (including night, weekends and holidays) // Respond to on-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency calls
- Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
- Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance
- Perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Occasionally Move objects/material (weight limits in accordance with regulations)
• Work in outdoor weather conditions.
• Work in noisy environments
• Work at heights and from ladders

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

- BS7671 18th Edition.

- HV/LV Authorised Person valid certification and experience.

- 4+ years of work experience in a critical operations environment.

- Full UK driving license.

- Good understanding of Data Centre critical infrastructure; such as Diesel Generators, Chillers, Cooling Towers, CHW Systems, Air Handling Units, UPS, HV/LV Electrical distribution systems, Fire Detection and suppression systems.

- Ability to prioritize in a complex and fast-paced environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- High/Low Voltage Authorised Person (AP) experience.

- Data Centre Engineering/Operations Experience.

- Bachelor\'s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout as well as low voltage (copper/ fibre) cabling.
- Familiar with Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) control systems and data collection/trending.
