Job description



The Role




As the manager for our Data Centre Technical Services Team, your role will be to ensure operational integrity across our multiple data centres. This includes managing a team, working closely with our facilities management suppliers, and overseeing the budgets for our portfolio of sites. Through your efforts, you'll ensure our data centres remain resilient, operationally active, and compliant.


Day-to-day, your role involves supporting your team to deliver a consistent experience for all building users, including both colleagues and visitors. As part of our technically experienced leadership team, you'll also play a key role in project work, from identifying and scoping, to pricing and then monitoring the delivery of improvement projects from start to finish.


In addition to these responsibilities, you'll liaise with stakeholders, apply your technical expertise, and train your team to ensure effective facility management across MI5. As you travel nationwide to our various sites, you'll oversee critical systems such as power, cooling, and fire safety, ensuring our offices remain safe and operational for everyone.

About You




To apply, you'll need an NVQ Level 4/5 or Higher National Certificate (HNC) level 4/5 in either Building Services Engineering, Facilities Management, or Engineering Maintenance. Membership in the Institute of Engineers is also required.


Experience in managing complex data facilities is essential, along with the technical expertise to support your team and contribute to system improvement projects. Extensive knowledge of regulatory compliance for data centres and critical environments is necessary.


An experienced, proactive leader, you're someone your team can rely on for support and training. You navigate complex stakeholder relationships with ease, collaborating with colleagues across MI5 to achieve your goals.

What to Expect



Our recruitment process is fair, transparent, and based on merit. Here is a brief overview of each stage, in order:

Application sift, looking at your motivation for the role and the organisation. Assessment Centre, the interview process will consist of HR Competency Interview and Technical Assessment. If successful, you will receive a conditional offer of employment.
