As a Data Centre Technician, you will have a shared responsibility in the delivery of the contracted services and projects within customer Data Centres. You will be accountable for the completion and refinement of activities on the operational checklists, referencing and updating documentation and procedures. You are required to undertake and maintain ITIL functions such as Incident, Change, Problem and Service Management You will oversee, train, and approve the work of junior team members and third parties, particularly regarding project installs, power, and network cabling. You will be required to undertake duties across any customer or third-party location within the UK in-line with your competency and the Serverfarm portfolio offerings, including being available on call to attend site at short notice and within 1 hour when required. This role is eligible for overtime pay and on-call pay as well as mileage reimbursement for on call, travel duties.

Key Accountabilities



Providing security within customer Data Centres. Aligning to and undertaking customer ITIL Functions, such as Change and Incident. Inputting into data centre management systems and ensuring accuracy and completeness of data to enable space, power and network management and reporting. Supervising; third parties, customers, peers, and subordinates. Operating within defined Service Level Agreements (SLA) Leading IT equipment moves, installations, removals, and patching. Working with third party suppliers to ensure best practice and efficiency. Undertaking Health & Safety audits and risk reporting, ensuring personal care. Carrying out IT asset audits and maintaining database accuracy. Maintaining and developing initiatives to increase service availability across all sites. Aligning with, adhering to, and improving documented process in line with ISO27001. Landlord areas, Cleaning, Waste management Utilities and communications infrastructure Maintain support and optimise capacity & utilisation of rack space.

Required Skills



Minimum of 5 years' experience working in a Data Centre with proven success in delivering customer requirements in a critical technology environment. Can work from a complex High-Level Design (HLD) or Patching Schedule unsupervised. Working additional hours may be required in this role. Being on call will be required within this role. Evidence of self-management and alignment with ever-changing priorities. Proven ability to undertake and manage tasks to tight deadlines with confidence, working alone or as part of a team. Demonstrable desire to proactively meet and exceed customer expectations. Proven understanding of security measures, risks, and enhancements. Able to articulate an ability to develop and maintain productive and fruitful relationships with peers, managers, and customers. Evidence of good written and oral communication skills, tenacity and working to a high level of accuracy. Able to present information clearly, with effective results using various techniques including MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel and messaging tools such as Outlook and Teams. A track record of good teamwork, leadership and influencing others to support your ideas and improvement initiatives. Proficient in the use of testing equipment, including OTDR and Fluke. Understand the basic elements of IT network architecture, including the range of cable types, ancillary networking devices and installation practices. In depth understanding of Health and Safety with an awareness of The Health and Safety at work Act. Good operational understanding of Data Centres and IT environments. GCSE level passes in Mathematics and English. Working at other datacentres may also be a requirement.

Preferred Skills



Experience in using StruxureWare DCE/DCO & TrackIT toolsets, would be beneficial Experience of managing projects including financial and resource elements Exposure to contracts operating in multi premises. Experience of working with Customers who provide critical National Infrastructure
