We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer specialised in

Archiving

to join our Digital & Data Team. This is a fundamental role in developing our data maturity and supporting the Council to become a truly data-enabled organisation.


You will be joining a dedicated small team, working closely alongside our Principal Data Engineer to shape and develop the organisational data archiving solution. In this key position, you will be working of our long-term data preservation. You will design and implement scalable archiving strategies that balance complex regulatory compliance with the need for high-performance, accessible data. you will collaborate with architects, governance teams, and stakeholders across to ensure our data remains secure, cost-efficient, and a valuable asset for years to come.


We are focused on supporting your professional development and offer a collaborative environment where you can utilise a range of cutting-edge cloud and engineering tools.

The successful candidate will require the following skills:

You have a strong background in enterprise data engineering and a passion for designing cold storage and tiered storage solutions that meet legal retention requirements. You can evidence hands-on experience with SQL, programming languages like Python or Scala, and cloud platforms such as Azure. You will require good experience in using Azure services, including Data Factory, Blob Storage, and Notebooks, alongside a strong understanding of DevOps practices. Experience in building and optimising ETL/ELT pipelines to manage large, diverse datasets across structured and unstructured formats. The ability to translate complex, technical data concepts into simple, accessible language for non-technical stakeholders and partners. You thrive working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to data documentation and helping others understand the potential of their data.

The team operates a hybrid working model, you will be expected to be in the office for a minimum of 1 day per week.
