The Role

We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our IT & Analytics team to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures that power analytics, reporting, and machine learning initiatives across the UK Colleges Division.

Key Responsibilities

------------------------

Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using AWS (Glue, Lambda, Redshift, S3). Integrate data from multiple systems (student management, CRMs, learning platforms, surveys). Clean, transform, and optimise datasets for reporting and modelling. Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance are consistently maintained. Work closely with Data Scientists to provide ready-to-use datasets. Collaborate with BI Developers and Analysts for dashboards and reporting. Design for scalability and performance across multiple colleges. Document processes and workflows for long-term sustainability. Identify opportunities for automation and process improvements.

About You

You're a hands-on problem solver with a passion for building data systems that scale. With a solid grounding in cloud data engineering and excellent collaboration skills, you can translate complex requirements into reliable, production-ready solutions.


Essential:



Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field. 3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer. Expertise in AWS services (Glue, Redshift, Lambda, S3). Strong SQL skills and data warehousing experience. Experience integrating data from multiple systems. Knowledge of governance, security, and quality frameworks.

Desirable:



Master's degree or AWS certifications. Experience in higher education or multi-system environments. Exposure to big data platforms or advanced data engineering frameworks.
