What you'll be doing




The BPP School of Technology is recruiting a Data Engineer professional and Tutor to support the teaching of the Level 5 Data Engineering programme, predominantly online. We are looking for practitioners with a keen sense of the corporate context, who are excited by the prospect of using their professional expertise to develop careers through higher education.


For this role, we are interested in hearing from practitioners with teaching experience in higher education, who can teach a range of subjects across our apprenticeship programmes, but also those that may not come from a teaching background and wish to get into higher education.


We are particularly looking for individuals with experience and expertise to support in the following areas:

Data Engineering Python Programming & Command Line Scripting Networking & Cyber Security Cloud Engineering Production Environment

As such, you will be responsible for:


Tutors could be asked to undertake variety of duties including curriculum and content design, assessment development, marking, supervision, student cohort management, as well as teaching.


Teaching of our apprenticeship provision is mostly delivered online via the Adobe Connect platform. Our teaching hours are predominantly Monday - Friday (9.00am - 5.00pm).

What we're looking for




To be successful in this role you will need to have a proven track record in the following areas:

Experience, Skills & Qualifications required - Essential



Experience





Relevant professional experience in industry.

Qualifications





Industry experience working in a Data Engineering role or similar

Development





For those not currently holding either a teaching qualification or a Fellowship of the HEA membership, a commitment to achieving these through BPP's PGCLT or HEA scheme is essential. A commitment to engage with our Learning and Teaching CPD resources.

Skills





Excellent command of the English language; + Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Excellent presentation skills; + The ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload;
The ability to work well in a team and be collaborative; Commerciality; Digital literacy; Self-motivation. Act on feedback.

Tools





Python (inc. Pandas, requests, pytest, kafka-python) SQL Cloud Engineering (currently we teach on AWS but a good understanding of any CSPs is okay). Git Bash

Skills, experience & qualifications required - Desirable



Experience





Experience teaching online. Experience using Adobe Connect. Relevant academic experience working in Higher Education

Qualifications





A Level 6/7 or equivalent qualification is preferred (as you may teach at a degree level too) Other industry related professional accreditations and/or certifications.

Apache Kafka Cyber security Networking Machine Learning Streaming services (e.g. Red Panda, Confluent) DevOps Software Engineering
