We are seeking a highly accurate and detail-focused
Data Entry Clerk
to support data management processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for inputting, updating and maintaining a range of data including geographic and tabular data ensuring accuracy, consistency and confidentiality at all times.
This role requires excellent attention to detail, the ability to follow structured processes, and confidence when working across different systems and applications. You will support colleagues and managers by ensuring data is reliable, well-organised and compliant with council procedures.
Key ResponsibilitiesData Management & Entry
Input, update and maintain data in council systems, databases and spreadsheets.
Perform regular data quality checks to ensure completeness, accuracy and consistency.
Review data for errors, duplicates or inconsistencies and correct them promptly.
Transfer data between systems, ensuring integrity and alignment with requirements.
Maintain and organise electronic records in line with council standards.
Collaboration & Support
Work with staff across various teams to ensure consistency in data inputs and outputs.
Support managers by providing accurate datasets and reporting as needed.
Follow established procedures and contribute to best practice in data handling.
Compliance & Confidentiality
Adhere to all data protection, GDPR and confidentiality policies.
Ensure sensitive or personal information is handled securely at all times.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum
6 months experience
in data entry or administrative roles.
Strong proficiency in
Microsoft Excel
(data entry, sorting, filtering).
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to follow structured processes and work confidently with tabular data.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
Confident using online map browsers to locate and interpret geographic data.
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Basic understanding of
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
or web-based mapping tools.
Experience working with location-based/address datasets.
Familiarity with repetitive task management and process-driven workflows.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
QualificationsEssential
Minimum
4 GCSEs (Grade C or above)
including
English Language
and a
STEM subject
.
NVQ Level 2
in Business Administration, IT, or related subject; OR equivalent experience.
Desirable
A-Level in ICT or a STEM subject, or equivalent experience.
