Data Manager

The 2Excel Geo department solves problems using advanced sensing techniques. We own and operate several airborne camera suites consisting of survey grade aerial photography and hyperspectral sensors. We process, integrate, and analyse this high-resolution data with a range of other imaging and non-imaging sources to deliver environmental solutions such as tree health assessment, invasive species detection, and habitat mapping.


We are seeking a Data Manager on a permanent basis. The role can be predominantly home-based with the occasional work from our offices in Sywell and Doncaster when required.

The role's key responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Database administration. Maintain and update PostgreSQL databases. Manage database access, security and performance. Troubleshoot database issues and optimise performance. Ensure data integrity. PowerShell development and automation Develop, maintain, and unit test PowerShell scripts to automate data-related tasks. Review and enhance existing scripts for efficiency and reliability. Manage and support a variety of PowerShell-based processes. Contribute to the growth and structure of the internal 2Excel PowerShell repository. IT support Work with the internal 2Excel IT team (and third-party providers) to articulate the challenges and requirement for the Geo Department and Insight Division. Collaborate with other teams to understand data storage and computational requirements.

It is essential that the successful applicant has the following skill set:

Proficiency in SQL and database management, including security and best practices. Good understanding of PowerShell. Strong communication skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Right to live and work in the UK.

It would be desirable for applicants to be able to demonstrate the following:

Experience with cloud-based computing, storage and data processing. Advanced PowerShell knowledge, including advanced functions, error handling and unit testing. Familiarity with APIs and their integration. Prior experience in a database administration role. Experience working with both Windows Server and Linux. Full valid UK driving licence
