Job Purpose:

TMHCC is running a significant programme of change under the Transformation Programme to transform policy administration capability to be fit for purpose and to support our growing and diverse business.

As part of that transformation, we are aiming to support the reporting and analytics requirements of the business by developing data products that drive effective decision-making whilst implementing an end-to-end solution that delivers value to the business with each release on the programme roadmap.

Reporting to the Principal Data Modeller, a highly experienced and capable Data Modeller is required to join the in-flight Data Delivery Project and hit the ground running to rapidly undertake activities that supports the programme teams to deliver the data products that will support a series of Strategic releases.

Key Responsibilities:

The candidate will:

  • Working with the business and transformation programme teams, to and design data models and data products.
  • Collaborate with programme/project data modellers by continuously validating and developing the data product models in alignment with enterprise data model.
  • Implement business and IT data requirements through new data strategies and designs across all data platforms (relational, dimensional, and NoSQL)
  • Work proactively and independently to address project requirements and articulate issues/challenges to reduce project delivery risks.
  • Rapidly gain an appreciation of the current state and progress of deliverables across the Data Delivery release plans.
  • Work closely with all aspects of the business and data teams to understand the business and its drivers and data requirements, capabilities and processes.
  • Establish effective communication and collaboration across all impacted areas and stakeholders.
  • Work with other Data team members to ensure data modelling and data integration requirements support the business requirements and dependent project/workstream integration requirements.
  • Work with the Test Lead to ensure requirements, Test Scenarios and Test Cases are aligned to approved requirements and processes, and to assist the lead with test defect resolution and execution support as needed to maintain the testing plan timeline.
  • Create clear and concise deliverables to ensure project objectives are well understood and successfully completed.
Provide and share knowledge, experience and ideas to help drive the team forwards.

Performance Objectives:

The Data Delivery Project requires in the first 3 months for the candidate to have successfully:
  • Performed the duties of a Data Modeller (See Key responsibilities)
  • Created the data models and data product designs following TMHCCI\'s data product framework working as part of our transformation project. Collaborating with product owners, business users and SMEs to design high value data products.
  • Work with others in Erwin Data Modeller to build up a catalogue of data models and data product designs.
  • developed a strong, supportive, and collaborative working relationship with the Data Delivery Project Team, the broader Transformation programme team, and Business stakeholders.
  • supported the development of data products that enable the transition of a line of business to a new policy administration system with associated enhancements to the existing data platform.
Skills and Experience Specification:

Essential:

The successful candidate will be outcomes driven with an insurance background and have demonstrable experience in similar previous roles and be able to operate at a programme/enterprise level of data analysis.

A strong understanding of data processes and other insurance processing systems is essential for this role.

In addition, we are seeking:
  • Demonstrable experience in data modelling.
  • Demonstrable experience with business systems and data analysis of complex systems and process.
  • Experience in full lifecycle data projects, understanding new system implementations.
  • Understanding of the key concepts of data warehousing, reporting and analytics and the requirements needed.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in hybrid waterfall and Agile delivery environments with a strong capabilty for creating, managing and maintaining Azure DevOps Epics, User Stories and Test Cases to industry standards of content working with other team members
  • Demonstrable ability to work with both ambiguity and change producing deliverables to required timeframes.
  • An excellent communicator with the ability to quickly establish rapport with business and technical SME personnel at all levels.
  • Ability to explore and challenge sensitively, mindful of organizational history and culture.
Desirable:
  • Previous analysis or configuration to any of our specific insurance systems - IRIS, SBS Eclipse, Sequel Claims, Guidewire.
  • Experience working with central finance teams and their complex requirements - Solvency 2, IFRS17.
  • Previous work in the insurance sector, particularly our lines of business and/or London Market and/or reinsurance process.
  • Experience with Snowflake database.
