Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive
Data Officer
to manage, analyse, and report on data across all areas of the school. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting leadership decisions, improving efficiency, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of school data systems.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update the school's Management Information System (MIS), ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
Manage pupil, staff, and academic data, including attendance, assessments, behaviour, and timetabling.
Generate and distribute accurate, timely reports and dashboards for SLT, Heads of Department, and other stakeholders.
Analyse key performance indicators and trends to support academic progress tracking and strategic planning.
Provide high-level administrative and technical support for census returns and regulatory compliance (e.g., Estyn, Welsh Government).
Support the development and automation of data processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual workload.
Ensure data protection and GDPR compliance in all data handling and storage activities.
Provide training and guidance to staff on data systems and best practices in data entry and usage.
Assist the Examinations Officer with accurate entries, analysis and assistance during external exam periods.
Person Specification
Essential:
Proven experience in a data management, analysis, or administrative role.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting, and dashboards.
Strong technical skills and ability to quickly learn new systems and software.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
Ability to interpret data and present insights in a clear, meaningful way.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Desirable:
Experience working in an educational environment or with school MIS platforms (e.g., Engage, CPOMs, CEM, Microsoft applications).
Knowledge of GDPR and data security best practices.
