Our Contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service partner with Zurich to support contingent recruitment hiring. On behalf of Zurich, AMS are looking for a Data Protection Consultant for a 3-6 Month Contract (TBC) based in Swindon (3 days per week in office).

In the UK, Zurich provide a suite of general insurance products covering business, casualty, motor, property and travel insurance, life insurance and pensions products to individuals and corporate customers. We employ over 4,500 people in the UK and are based across a number of locations with our head office being in Swindon.

Purpose of the Role:

To support the business with understanding and adhering to Data Protection regulatory requirements.

As a Data Protection Consultant you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering technical and regulatory services and expertise to relevant business areas, as well as supporting your colleagues within Compliance.
  • Helping to embed data protection regulatory discipline within the business, manage and review data protection risks and advise on the design of appropriate controls and monitoring.
  • The assessment of key Data Protection risks (using DPIAs where required) during the advisory process and visibility at an appropriate level.
  • Making recommendations for efficient and practical solutions for matters arising through local and strategic projects and ad hoc queries.
  • Related customer communications (including privacy notice) and organisational policies, procedures and guidelines are effective, fit for purpose, minimise business risk and help to drive efficiencies.
  • Demonstrable evidence of analysis of regulatory change and the impact on UK business.
  • Identification of issues for escalation to senior managers and Boards / Data Council etc.
  • Production of insightful and timely MI and reporting.
  • Ensuring that the advice and guidance given to the business is clear and that all efforts are made to explain the Data Protection requirements.
  • Working with the IGO team to continue to ensure that record retention requirements are understood and responsibility taken by the information Stewards.
What we require from the candidate:
  • You should have advanced experience in a similar Data Protection role
  • Ideally experience from within the Financial Services Industry.
  • A related GDPR qualification.
  • A broad knowledge of the Insurance and Investment Industry, the UK regulatory and governance framework is essential.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, interpretation, decision-making and judgement skills are a must as you will need to be able to work with a high degree of autonomy.
  • You will need to understand business drivers in order to focus Compliance input appropriately and influence Senior Management accordingly.
