We are looking to expand our team and are searching for a Data Protection Specialist to join our terrific team on a full-time basis


We are flexible on the location of the role, this could be remote or hybrid - whatever suits you best! Some presence will be required in our offices in Borehamwood and Amesbury.

Here's what you'll be doing with us:



Oversight of public-facing mailboxes including responding to data subject requests, logging requests or complaints in the appropriate register and escalating to relevant stakeholders and the GDPO where required. Act as a point of contact for colleagues to raise data protection concerns. Respond to or prioritise these requests for the GDPOs attention. This will include setting up relevant meetings for the GDPO as necessary. Maintain the Register of Processing Activity (ROPA). Maintain the incident and data breach register. Advise on and monitor data protection impact screening and assessments. Maintain all records of Data Protection Impact Assessments undertaken. Advise colleagues on the appropriate use and handling of personal data. Advise on and monitor Legitimate Interest assessments. Liaise with and support other department's projects. Liaise with and support the maintenance of departmental records of processing. Ensure recording of consent is implemented, managed, and monitored. Ensure privacy policies and notices are updated to reflect new activities. Support with colleague learning as necessary including for inductions. Maintain the data protection training register. Support the completion of project work including reminders to colleague, status updates, updating project documentation and reviewing feedback in the first instance. Maintain the department's standard operating procedure. Coordinate the creation and review of data flow processes and maps. Produce record schemas of processing activity including the Information Asset Register and Data Sharing Register. Contribute to, and assist with, the creation of additional guidance for colleagues. Assist with the development of templates and policies to facilitate compliance with good practice. Assist in the development and review of the records management and data quality and disposal policies. Raise awareness of system and process ownership and ensure individuals are aware of their roles and responsibilities. Support the GDPO by producing meaningful MI against core compliance procedures. Our Wishlist of your previous experience:



Experience of supporting with data protection activities within a regulated organisation or professional services company. Knowledge of UK data protection laws (UK GDPR, Data Protection Act) and practices. Ability to handle confidential information. A self-starter with proven ability to work to a high standard, with minimal supervision when attending meetings and with an eye for detail, supporting on projects and a range of varied data protection related issues simultaneously. Ability to identify any compliance gaps and problems, undertake analysis, challenge poor practices diplomatically and make effective recommendations through pragmatic solutions. Experience in supporting effective data protection training skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to quickly establish personal credibility and to develop and maintain effective stakeholder's relationships, including working with people with differing perspectives and agendas. High degree of IT literacy, with excellent experience of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Excellent document and formatting skills for reporting. Ability to manage workload independently and autonomously when required by the GDPO. Accredited qualification such as a professional diploma in data protection and governance or hold at least one Data Protection and/or Privacy certification such as, CIPP, CIPT, ISEB/BCS would be beneficial.
