In this vital role, you'll provide a wide range of administrative support to our multidisciplinary team, ensuring that clinical and administrative data is processed accurately, efficiently, and in line with practice policies. You'll help maintain smooth daily operations and support our commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Core Administrative Duties:
Handle daily post (incoming and outgoing), including visits to the post office and bank.
Prepare and manage Carer's Passports and assist patients with online access setup.
Monitor and action emails received in the generic practice inbox.
Operate office equipment including photocopiers, scanners, and franking machines.
Process invoices for payment, prepare remittance advice, and maintain petty cash spreadsheets.
Retrieve pathology and other test results when requested by clinical staff.
Accurately scan and attach clinical correspondence to patient records, ensuring correct clinical coding and distribution.
Answer telephone calls professionally, taking and forwarding accurate messages.
Prepare Prescription Pricing Authority (PPA) reports for monthly submission.
Log cheques, prepare banking slips, and process payments as required.
Chase hospital appointment letters and clinic correspondence.
Invite patients to planned clinics and assist with appointment coordination.
Provide cover for administrative colleagues during absences.
Support the Management and Practice teams with general administrative duties.
Essential Skills and Experience
? Experience working in an
administrative environment

? Experience in
clinical coding
within a healthcare setting.
? Proficient in
Microsoft Office
(Word, Excel, Outlook).
? Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data handling.
? Excellent organisational and communication skills.
? Ability to prioritise workload and work both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a
healthcare or primary care environment
.
Experience using
EMIS clinical system
(or similar patient record software).
Understanding of NHS administrative processes and information governance standards.
