Summary of Role Purpose

We are looking for a Data Science Assistant Manager to join KPMG\'s rapidly growing and fast paced Clara Data Analytics & Technology capability. In the role, you will work on data science projects and be responsible for delivering quality data science work across a wide range of audit engagements. This includes delivering outputs for some of our largest global and most complex engagements.

We are investing in data science, innovation, and cutting-edge technology to ensure that KPMG\'s analytics capability remains market leading on a global scale. Your role will directly contribute to growing our data science capability through supporting the technology narrative on audit tenders as well as getting experience in development. Description of the Role

  • Working as a part of a project team to develop new or existing artificial intelligence solutions designed for processing large datasets. This could include creating proof of concepts, delivering minimal viable products, or deploying models into production.
  • Collaborating with audit teams and other Clara team members to drive adoption of data science solutions and generating use cases to help solve specific business problems taking advantage of the wide range of large quality datasets readily available.
  • Acting as a coach and mentor to junior team members to build a data science capability. This will also include working across the team to bring together different skillsets to develop and implement high quality data science solutions.
  • Working across a diverse range of industry sectors, and organisations of varying scale and complexity - from major global brands to private enterprise.
  • Interacting with business stakeholders to explain complex data science techniques and supporting with interpreting outputs in a financial and audit context.
  • Collaborating with our data engineering and cloud engineering team in architecture design and model deployment to jointly build solutions and products that will interoperate seamlessly with other elements of the audit technology suite.

\xc2\xb7 Technology skills: Uses firm-approved audit tools and innovative technology solutions to increase audit quality, productivity, and data insights.

\xc2\xb7 Technical knowledge: Understands relevant technical accounting and financial reporting standards, regulations, and accounting literature. Exhibits and stays current on appropriate industry and specialized knowledge, and leverages KPMG methodologies (including ESG Assurance).

\xc2\xb7 Evaluation of audit results: Evaluates evidence from audit procedures to determine if audit objectives were achieved.

\xc2\xb7 Engagement management: Manages and executes the engagement, including project management, team management and remediation of deviations from the audit plan and timeline.

The Person

Experience and Knowledge Requirements

\xc2\xb7 Experience in data science, artificial intelligence or data engineering in academia or industry. (E)

\xc2\xb7 Intermediate skills in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R or Scala). (E)

\xc2\xb7 Intermediate skills in SQL or NoSQL databases. (E)

\xc2\xb7 Experience in data visualisation techniques and tools. (E)

\xc2\xb7 Intermediate skills in at least one data engineering technology (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Elasticsearch). (E)

\xc2\xb7 Experience generating and testing hypothesis, identifying patterns from samples and reporting of trends. (E)
  • Experience working in Agile and software engineering practices. (E)
  • Experience in deploying models into production in at least one major cloud provider (Azure, AWS, GCP) including their respective machine learning and data engineering services. (E)
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering high quality, complex projects. (E)
\xc2\xb7 Experience of managing teams, coaching, and mentoring junior staff. (D)

\xc2\xb7 Experience in deep learning techniques using TensorFlow/Keras or PyTorch frameworks. (D)
  • Experience working with Git, Docker, and Linux. (D)
\xc2\xb7 Publication in a data science journal. (D)
