Role Overview:



The Data Scientist will be a critical member of our analytics and technology organization, responsible for designing and executing complex data science projects, developing predictive models, and extracting actionable insights from vast datasets. Key Responsibilities:



Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex business problems and generate predictive insights. Collect, clean, process, and analyze large, complex datasets from diverse sources to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities. Apply statistical modeling, data mining, and advanced analytical techniques to extract actionable insights and support strategic decision-making. Develop and deploy data-driven solutions, including recommendation engines, forecasting models, classification systems, and optimization algorithms. Collaborate with data engineering teams to build robust data pipelines and ensure data quality and accessibility. Communicate complex analytical findings and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership, through visualizations, reports, and presentations. Design and conduct experiments (A/B testing) to validate hypotheses and measure the impact of new initiatives or models. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and big data technologies. Contribute to the development of data governance policies and best practices for data management and analysis. Mentor junior data scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team. Ensure ethical considerations and data privacy standards are upheld in all data science projects. Document methodologies, models, and findings comprehensively.

Role Competencies & Activities:



Stakeholder Management & Collaboration:



Effectively collaborate with business leaders, product managers, urban planners, and operational teams to understand their challenges and identify opportunities for data science solutions. Work closely with data engineers to define data requirements and ensure seamless data integration for analytical projects. Partner with software development teams to deploy and integrate machine learning models into production systems. Clearly articulate the value and limitations of data science models and analytical results to stakeholders. Translate business problems into well-defined data science questions and project plans.

Technical Excellence & Analytical Rigor:



Demonstrate mastery in statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, and experimental design. Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning models (e.g., regression, classification, clustering, time series forecasting, NLP, deep learning). Strong programming skills in Python or R, and proficiency with relevant data science libraries and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Pandas, NumPy, Spark MLlib). Expertise in data manipulation, data wrangling, and feature engineering. Experience with big data technologies and platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Hive) and cloud-based ML services (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Azure ML, Google AI Platform). Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational and NoSQL databases. Strong skills in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn) to communicate insights effectively. Ability to design and implement robust validation and testing strategies for machine learning models.

Leadership & Communication:



Provide intellectual leadership on data science projects, guiding analytical approaches and methodologies. Lead technical discussions and present findings to diverse audiences, tailoring communication style appropriately. Clearly articulate the data science vision, project roadmaps, and the potential impact of data-driven insights. Proactively identify and champion opportunities to leverage data science for business innovation and operational efficiency. Contribute to the development of best practices, coding standards, and knowledge sharing within the data science team.

Experience & Qualifications:



Skills & Experience:



A Experience in Machine learning Engineer, or in a similar quantitative role, with a proven track record of delivering impactful data-driven solutions. Expert-level knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques. Strong programming proficiency in Python or R, and extensive experience with relevant data science libraries and tools. Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing frameworks (e.g., Spark). Hands-on experience in deploying machine learning models into production environments. Strong experience with data visualization and communicating complex findings to non-technical audiences. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their machine learning services. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills. Experience in specific domains such as urban development, smart cities, real estate, retail, or transportation is a plus.

Qualifications:



Master's or Ph.D. Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Relevant certifications in data science, machine learning, or cloud platforms are a significant plus. A strong portfolio of data science projects or contributions to open-source projects is highly desirable.
