About our Procurement and Contract Management Team:
We are pleased to share that following a review and restructure, Walsall Council has a number of new and exciting opportunities in its Procurement and Contract Management team.
Our team support a wide range of service areas across the Council including services for Adult Social Care, Children's Service, Public Health, Construction, FM, Waste, Fleet, Finance, HR, and ICT to name a few.
With significant changes in public sector procurement with the UK's Procurement Act 2023 (PA23) coming into force, bringing with it the challenges of a major overhaul of the procurement and contract management rules, and a heightened focus on transparency, integrity and commerciality, this is an ideal time to join our established team and positively impact change.
Data and Systems
With the implementation of the Procurement Act this has been instrumental in changing our ways of working and ensuring our processes satisfy the necessary legislative requirements.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, positive minded individual to join the Contract Management, Governance, Systems area within the Procurement & Contract Management team. You will collaborate with the whole team ensuring that our eProcurement portal continues to evolve around the legislation and reporting requirements, you will assist them uploading documentation and undertaking stator notices on Central Government portals
You will work alongside team members and with colleagues across the organisation contributing in the development of data reporting which is relevant to the Procurement Act and the development of internal KPI's, contributing to the build of reports around Procurement and Contract management activity.
Ideally you will:
be flexible, pragmatic with a 'can do' attitude
be familiar with working with people at all levels within an organisation and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
have knowledge of the role of Procurement and Contract management and be aware of the role it plays within a Local Authority setting
have excellent ICT and excel skills
have an understanding of the Procurement Act 2023 and what is now required to ensure adherence to the Act.
