Database Administrator Job working remotely as part of the dynamic Hosted Infrastructure team.

Here at EMIS we are looking for an inquisitive and solution driven Database Administrator to join us on a permanent basis, working within our fantastic DBA team.

This really is a unique opportunity to join a well-built talent team who are responsible for an estate made up of 10,000+ SQL database\'s that service our healthcare customers. You will be joining a team who are well established but growing, and therefore that presents real opportunity for you to impart your knowledge as well as develop your expertise.

You will be designing, building and maintaining the database infrastructure and be part of the journey as we transition to the cloud. If you want to join a company where you can grow, build on your expertise and really make a difference to the healthcare industry, then we are for you.

This DBA role is a mainly home working position and has occasional planned and paid out of hours and on call responsibilities.

What you\'ll do

You will proactively maintain and optimise performance within the MSSQL estate and will share your own knowledge and experience for specific technical solutions and business processes in your area of expertise.

We\'re looking for collaborators who will work closely with the wider DBA and hosted services team; you will be empowered to deliver solutions with the full support of the wider team.

Other key responsibilities and accountabilities will include;

  • Support the Major Incident and Incident Investigation Management process.
  • Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for databases.
  • Contributes to the setting of standards for definition, security and integrity of database objects and ensures conformance to these standards.
Who you\'ll be

You will be an experienced Database Administrator, who can demonstrate their knowledge and experience working within Microsoft SQL Server within a complex environment. Any knowledge of AWS (or other cloud technologies) would also be super beneficial but isn\'t a requirement.

You will be a self-motivated and curious individual who enjoys working with autonomy, and thrives troubleshooting within a complex environment where there is a focus on continuous improvement. Ideally you\'ll also be a team player who\'s keen to contribute wherever possible.

The ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with your peers and wider stakeholders within the business is key, whilst always having a focus on our customers\' needs.

Technical skills we are looking for you to demonstrate include;
  • Experience with:
  • SQL Server backups, restores, DBCC, updates, failovers, corruption and recovery
  • SQL Server Database Log Management
  • SQL Server Performance - understanding, interpreting SQL Execution Plans
  • SQL Server SSIS, SSAS, SSRS - setup and support
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2019 databases.
