The Role
This position is required to work within the Business Improvement Team under the guidance of the Business Improvement Technical Manager and Business Improvement Technical Analyst. You will be training to build, maintain and monitor Power BI datasets and reports including providing training for senior stakeholders and users across the business. You will also be required to help and support the 8 regional teams and group services functions in our reporting capabilities. The role will be primarily based in London (W1T area). There will be times when required to travel to our regional offices. Working hours will be Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5:30pm.
The role will include:
Working with databases and business intelligence (BI) reporting through SQL and Power BI, communicating across multiple teams for gathering reporting requirements, writing queries in SQL for creating/altering Views and updating tables, building datasets within Power BI Desktop, writing calculations using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) and M-Language, build SSRS/paginated reports, aid the Business Improvement Technical Manager in the Azure environment including testing when required, finding new ways to deliver trend analysis statistics and reporting across the business and collaborating with a centralised IT team and external developers on improvements.
The successful candidate will need to develop an understanding of the various end users across the business and the systems they use to and ensure that reports are suitable and deliver value to the business.
Your responsibilities will include
Collating data requirements and feasibility of reporting through Power BI and/or SSRS.
Design, develop and maintain Power BI reports including low-level code using Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) and M-Language.
Data modelling combining internal proprietary systems with software such as D365, SharePoint and Excel.
Finding and fixing issues in current reports (i.e., interactions, errors and calculations).
T-SQL scripting for querying and altering Microsoft SQL Server tables and views.
Provide bi-weekly high-level updates to Head of Business Improvement and quarterly updates to the Main Board/Directors.
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and/or Power BI paginated reports
Basic DAX studio for dataset and calculation optimisations.
About your experience and technical ability (assume graduate or A-levels)
STEM-based subjects at A-Level or University (ideally Computer Science, Maths, Economics, or a Science-related field of study).
Experienced with Excel.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work independently.
Good communication skills.
