A) Job Purpose:
1. To assist in the provision of a high standard of person centred care
2. To support and enable residents to live the life style of their choosing
3. To provide a service which upholds residents rights
4. To ensure that all services are provided which maintains the residents dignity
5. To work as part of a team to achieve required standards
6. To be involved in the general activities of the Care Centre.

Essential:

Desired:
6. NVQ - relevant National Vocational Qualification (achieved or working towards)

C)
Main responsibilities
Self:
1. To work in a professional and flexible manner which supports the staff team to provide a high level of care (refer to list of general tasks on P4)
2. To active take part in learning opportunities and undertake training as and when required, to maintain a high level of skills and knowledge
3. To attend supervision sessions to review and reflect on your performance
4. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of residents and report any issues of concern to a senior member of staff
5. To conduct yourself in a manner at all times (even off duty) which does not misrepresent the organisation or undermine its public and professional standing
6. To have made yourself familiar with and understand the key elements of the organisations policies and procedures via our QCS system
7. To remember and recognise that you are working in the residents home, and that you will not act in any way which undermines this
8. To maintain strict confidentiality in and outside of the home
9. To document all care interventions in a person centred way in line with our company caredocs SOP as attached using our caredocs system.

D) Communication:
1. To communicate effectively and respectfully to all staff and residents
2. To attend and participate in all staff meetings
3. To attend any reviews or meetings relating to the care of the residents
4. To maintain professional records of the care provided
E) The premises:
1. To ensure that you are familiar with the layout of the premises and location of safety equipment, fire extinguishers and emergency exits
2. To report any issues, dangers or areas of concern
3. To work in a manner which maintains the integrity of the building
4. To ensure the safety and security of all residents personal belongings and company assets
5. Promote safe working throughout the home
F) Resources:
1. To use all equipment in a safe manner
2. To minimise damage or wear and tear to the building and all fixed or moveable assets
3. To consider the financial implications of any of your actions, and work in a manner which does not waste company finances
G) Law and Guidance:
1. To make yourself familiar with and keep up to date with the key aspects of legislation and guidance (provided in Operational handbooks at Induction)- particularly:
i. the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (and the Essential Standards of Quality and Safety),
ii. The Mental Capacity Act 2005 (and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards)
iii. Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

H) Quality Monitoring:
1. You will be responsible for general monitoring of the quality of the service and systems, and where any fault has been identified you will take appropriate corrective action or report the matter to the manager
2. You may be contributing to in house audits, to support achieving compliance with Regulation 17 (Governance).
3. You will ensure that evidence of outcomes is recorded.
4. You will prompt colleagues where issues have been missed in relation to their performance or responsibilities.
I) Residents:
1. To respond to residents in a respectful manner
2. To maintain residents dignity, privacy and independence
3. To make yourself familiar with the needs of all the needs of the residents (care file)
4. To enable, support and empower each resident to reach and maintain their full potential

6. To carry out tasks which have been delegated to you
7. To contribute to the assessment of residents' needs, contribute to the development and review of the care file and plans
8. To monitor and supervise residents to ensure their needs are met (without invading their privacy)
9. To provide a high standard of personal care and support; this may include social activities, intimate care, incontinence, confusion, behaviours, dying etc.)
10. To respond professionally and supportively to any visitor

The post holder may be required to undertake other duties that may be required from time to time within the general scope of the post. Any such duties should not substantially change the general character of the post.

GENERAL LIST OF DUTIES/TASKS
Assisting with personal care: washing, bathing, dressing, shaving, hair, nails, feet oral health (cleaning of teeth/dentures)
Assisting with toilet or continence requirements (as per the assessed individual needs of each resident)
Supporting/taking client/s out to local vicinity/shops/park/etc
Nutritional/hydration requirements; assisting to eat and drink (including recording in-take if any risk is present)
Provision of meals safely into client's rooms
Preparing and serving meals outside of mealtimes as and when requested
Providing refreshments throughout the day as and when requested
Laundry duties and care of clothes and personal belongings
Sweeping and mopping of floors (in the event of spillages or as necessary outside of domestic assistant hours)
Making and changing of beds (ensuring clean fresh linen at each use)
Assisting clients to communicate with family and friends; letters, email cards etc..
Supporting people who may require it, with social interactions and activities
Recording relevant data as instructed by CTM, TL or Manager
Liaising with family, friends and advocates as requested
Assisting professional visitors as requested
Attend to nurse call (buzzer) as applicable throughout the day - NB. Can only be disarmed at point of contact/call point (NOT AT THE BOARD)
