We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Day Centre Assistant to help us deliver exceptional care and support at our Day Centre. This role is vital in providing a welcoming and engaging environment for our clients, many of whom are older adults seeking companionship, stimulation, and practical support.

Westbank is a well-established, award-winning charity supporting communities across Devon since 1986. From our vibrant Community Care and Healthy Living Centre in Exminster, we deliver a wide range of services, including Devon Carers, a community cookery school, an innovative gym and Kidzone childcare.

Our Day Centre plays a vital role in the lives of older people - offering social connection, nutritious meals, stimulating activities, and essential support.

The Role



As a Day Centre Care Assistant, you'll play a key part in delivering this valuable service. Your day-to-day duties will include:

Supporting the preparation of the Day Centre and welcoming clients. Helping to plan and deliver fun and meaningful activities, entertainment Supporting with lunch service and refreshments Ensuring a clean and safe environment at the end of each day Coordinating with volunteers and working closely with external partners Handling small cash and card payments Supporting and encouraging clients to get the most out of their time at the centre
This is a hands-on, varied role that combines coordination and compassion.

What we are looking for



Experience working with older adults or in a care/support setting A relevant care qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Diploma in Health and Social Care) is desirable A friendly, patient, and reliable approach Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication skills and basic administrative competence A flexible attitude and willingness to adapt to the needs of the service Commitment to high standards of care, safeguarding, and inclusion
