Our staff are required to work on a range of different sites, including; all college campuses, employer's premises or communities local to your learners' home - therefore willingness to travel is essential. There may be a requirement to transport learners in your own car, insurance implications are reimbursed. Mileage and expenses are provided for travel during the working day.
Job Purpose
To plan and deliver engaging, inclusive arts and crafts sessions for learners within the Day Service provision. The Arts and Crafts Leader will inspire and motivate learners with SEND through creative, hands-on activities that promote self-expression, confidence, communication, wellbeing, and personal development. The role includes leading sessions, directing LSAs, and ensuring high-quality support.
Main Responsibilities
Plan and deliver creative, purposeful arts and crafts sessions tailored to the needs, abilities, and interests of learners.
Prepare detailed session plans and maintain accurate learner records on Databridge.
Collaborate with LSAs to provide meaningful and inclusive learning experiences that promote creativity and skill development.
Manage and maintain arts and crafts materials, ensuring resources are safe, organised, and suitable for learner use.
Conduct risk assessments for all planned sessions, visits, and off-site creative activities.
Support learners during community-based or exhibition opportunities, encouraging independence and participation.
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and active engagement in all sessions.
Assist learners with safe and efficient arrival and departure, ensuring wellbeing and safety at all times.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity policies.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and engage in ongoing professional development and training.
Provide personal care and medication support where required, promoting dignity and independence.
Act as a positive role model, demonstrating creativity, professionalism, and respect in all interactions.
