Position Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Day Shift Operations Manager to oversee a dynamic warehouse operation during our afternoon/evening shift. You will lead a team of Warehouse Supervisors and approximately 40 operatives across various temperature-controlled zones. Your primary responsibility is to ensure all shift activities -- including picking, loading, replenishment, and dispatch -- are executed safely, efficiently, and in line with KPIs.
This is a hands-on, people-focused role that requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a proactive approach to performance management and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the end-to-end operational performance of the Mid Shift, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and in full.
Lead, coach, and support a team of Warehouse Supervisors, providing clear direction and guidance.
Drive a culture of accountability, productivity, and positive employee engagement.
Monitor and manage key performance indicators (KPIs), reporting progress and challenges to the senior leadership team.
Uphold and enforce all Health & Safety standards and company policies across all warehouse zones.
Collaborate with other shift managers and departments to ensure seamless handovers and operational continuity.
Identify training and development needs within the team to enhance performance and progression.
Lead problem-solving activities, investigating operational issues and implementing timely, effective solutions.
Ensure all stock movements are recorded accurately, and any discrepancies are resolved swiftly.
Essential Requirements
1 years experience in a warehouse or logistics environment in a managerial or senior supervisory role.
Demonstrated ability to lead large teams across multiple operational areas.
Solid understanding of warehouse systems, processes, and performance metrics.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence.
A hands-on, initiative-taking leadership style with a commitment to operational excellence.
Knowledge of Health & Safety and compliance regulations.
The ability to remain calm under pressure and manage change effectively.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience in foodservice or FMCG warehouse environments.
Relevant certifications (e.g., forklift license, first aid, health & safety).
Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
