The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive DC Safety Manager to join our team at the Lymedale Distribution Centre. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of Health & Safety within the site, ensuring that our policies and procedures are not only fully compliant with legal requirements but also reflect best practice and commercial awareness.

Working closely with the Group Health & Safety Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining and developing safety standards across the Distribution Centre. This includes leading on training, audits, and risk assessments, as well as providing guidance, support, and the necessary tools to empower the management team to embed safe working practices throughout the operation.

Although this position reports directly to the Group Health & Safety Manager, you will be an integral part of the Lymedale team--offering commercial insight while upholding the highest standards of safety. Your ability to understand business needs and deliver technical support will be essential to your success in this role.

What You'll Be Doing

Ensure all site Health & Safety policies and procedures are current, compliant, and practical. Regularly review and update risk assessments and SOPs to reflect legislation and business changes. Conduct site inspections and audits, address issues promptly, and promote a strong safety culture. Investigate incidents, recommend preventative actions, and maintain documentation for legal compliance. Keep senior management informed of safety issues and solutions, and collaborate to reduce risks. Provide regular reports and consult with management for continuous improvement. Network with peers to share and adopt best practices. Interpret legislation and best practice into effective site processes. Liaise with authorities and manage accident reporting as needed. Oversee training for inductions, job-specific, and technical needs. Actively participate in health and safety meetings and site projects. Manage drug and alcohol testing, first aiders, fire marshals, and evacuation chair training. Lead the H&S consultation group to engage the workforce.

Who You Are:



Proven Health & Safety experience in a Distribution Centre environment. NEBOSH General Certificate in Health & Safety (NEBOSH Diploma or Fire Certificate preferred). Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels. Commercial awareness with the ability to implement practical, compliant solutions. Decisive, objective, and able to respond calmly to serious issues. Commitment to continuous improvement and operational awareness. Highly organised and effective team player.
