We are an international language school in Brighton offering students not only English lessons but meaningful cultural experiences. Our Debate Club is a growing space where learners can build confidence, practise speaking, and explore British debate traditions in a fun, supportive environment.
We're looking for someone enthusiastic and inspiring to help lead and develop this club -- whether you come from a debating background, teaching background, or simply love discussion, critical thinking, and helping young people find their voice.
The Role
We are intentionally keeping this role flexible. Broadly, you will:
Lead a weekly 1-hour Debate Club session (Wednesdays at 4:30pm).
Create an engaging, positive atmosphere where students feel comfortable speaking.
Introduce students to debate in a way that suits your style -- whether through structured formats, creative activities, open-floor discussions, or themed debate topics.
Encourage clear thinking, respectful disagreement, and confident communication.
Help the club grow throughout the year and shape its direction based on what works best.
There is no expectation to follow a strict format -- we welcome your ideas.
About You
You might be a great fit if you are:
Passionate about debate, communication, or public speaking
Confident guiding a small group
Good at motivating and encouraging students
Clear and friendly in your communication
Reliable and able to commit weekly during term time
