About Us

M-SParc, in partnership with Business in Focus and Menter M\xc3\xb4n, has secured a contract to deliver the Business Wales service as Enterprise Partnership Cymru (EPC) on behalf of the Welsh Government. Our mission is to provide expert advice and support to entrepreneurs throughout Wales. As a Decarbonisation Advisor, you will play a crucial role within the Business Wales programme. Collaborating with the Egni Low Carbon Team you will empower SMEs in Wales to grasp the importance of decarbonisation and the net zero agenda.

The Role

As a Decarbonisation Advisor, you will work closely with SMEs to provide guidance and support aiding businesses in aligning with net zero targets set by both the Welsh and UK governments. This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to guide businesses towards a greener future and will involve:

  • Supporting SMEs in understanding and implementing decarbonisation strategies
  • Guiding businesses in assessing their carbon footprint and developing decarbonisation roadmaps
  • Incorporating energy and resource efficiency along with new low carbon technologies
  • Facilitating the adoption of resource-efficient practices and drive long-term change
  • Addressing economic impacts stemming from energy-related challenges
  • Collaborating with the Relationship Management Programme to provide specialized advice
  • Creating and updating digital content to educate businesses on decarbonisation strategies
  • Collaborating with the Thematic Advisory Team Manager to develop innovative content
  • Engaging with the Ecosystem Participation Panel to address client queries
  • Monitoring client progress and providing support in compliance with contractual requirements
  • Proactively share intelligence on a regular basis to develop engagement, reach and service provision
To be successful in this role you should possess:
  • Strong knowledge of net zero and sustainable legislation and good practice
  • Experience in providing advice and guidance to SMEs
  • A degree in a relevant Decarbonisation/Sustainability/Resource Efficiency related subject is desirable
  • Proven experience of working in a business or delivering specialist advice to businesses on decarbonisation/sustainability/resource efficiency
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with SMEs and stakeholders
  • Familiarity with local business support resources
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills
  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office 365
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable
  • Valid UK driving license and use of vehicle to travel across the region to attend events and meetings etc is essential

This is a part-time, contract vacancy for 24 months initially. Hours are 18.75 per week with some flexibility. Based at M-sparc, Gaerwen with some hot desking at other company working locations, travel across Wales and opportunities to work from home.
