Are you an experienced Programme Test Defect Manager with a Utilities background looking for a new challenge and to step up in your career? As Programme Test Defect Manager, you will be working in a client facing role across in the Utilities industry focused on defining and implementing projects for large or complex projects. You will direct and manage the full defect-life cycle and set standards for assignments and applications. You will be responsible for a Team of 4 Defect Managers and be Point of Contact for all aspects of defect management.

Responsibilities

• Be the Programme Management Point of Contact for all aspects of defect management
• Definition, ownership and management of the Programme Defect Management process
• Defect Management Test Tool set up and administration
• Ensure Adherence to the Programme Defect Management Process
• Produce Programme Defect Management Comms Pack
• Responsible for identifying lessons learned / themes from defects i.e. defects raised in error, high levels of risk in the solution
• Aim to increase Defect Management efficiency i.e. speed defects are resolved, avoid duplicates, reduce defect retest failure, improve logging, feed into testing retrospectives and implementing relevant lessons learnt
• Ensure the central Defect Test Tool is the single version of the truth, assuring SI and Third Parties follow Programme Defect Management Process and ensure they actively keep the central defect management tool and their own 100% in line
• Daily defect reporting across the Test Lifecycle
• Manage a Team of 4 Defect Managers who will:-

• Own and chair daily defect calls and provide clear defect updates with actions
• Work with development teams to ensure efficient and effective triage of defects
• Liaise with the Release Management Team to ensure a clear and efficient promotion of defect fixes to test
• Ensure all defects are entered correctly and controlled / managed as effectively as possible through lifecycle
• Ensure client IT and business views are bought into the assessment of defect severity, impact and priority
• Ensure the Business agrees and captures defect workarounds
• Actively manage all defects in the Azure DevOps defect management tool
• During Industry test phases keeping participant tools aligned where appropriate
• Attend participant defect triage meeting and ensure the client is technically adequately represented
• Manage handover of open defects to BAU with work off plans and defect workarounds
• Providing insight and additional analysis capability to the defect managers
• Co-ordinate/Approve team absence/leave.
• Arrange/Provide cover for absences. Due to the singleton nature of, but key aspects of the defect managers role, cover for absence is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience
• ISTQB Advanced advantageous
• Additional course or certification in Quality Assurance
• Project Management qualification

• SMETS2 Generic solution knowledge across Supplier/DCC/CSP/Device manufacturers
• Azure DevOps knowledge
• Excellent client-facing skills
• Team and People management skills - introducing and building ways in which people can learn from each other, encouraging mentoring and the transfer of knowledge by designing and delivering learning interventions
• Team work and emotional intelligence
• Good self-management \xe2\x80\x93 continuous performance is both an objective and a mind-set
• Has an innovative approach \xe2\x80\x93 a bold thinker and doer, matching creativity with vigilance
• High value on openness and transparency
• Excellent communication and presentations skills
• Experience of introducing new concepts or strategies that significantly improve or revise the way business is done through to implementation.

Experience

• Experience of Defect Management in a complex/diverse integrated environment
• SMETS2 and DCC experience
• Experience in managing a large team is essential
• Knowledge of systems such as Oracle CC&B, & SAP an advantage
• A background in consultancy would be an advantage

What do I need before I apply

• Ability to travel to client sites across the UK, mainly London, for a number of days per week is essential
