Job description




We are recruiting for an Information Rights Manager to join the Information Stewardship team. You will be responsible for:

Ensuring Defence Digital comply with statutory information-related obligations, including the Data Protection Act (DPA). Supporting the Ministry of Defence's (MOD) Departmental Data Protection Officer in the fulfilment of their functions. Providing advice and guidance on information compliance matters to the wider MOD, including it's Agencies, associated bodies, and other Government Departments. Providing advice in the handling and processing of personal data within MOD. Providing citizen-facing advice and guidance; including the management of complaints and casework. Assisting with information audits and general MOD assurance programme. Supporting breach investigations and assist with the preparation of legal documents in for any tribunals or appeals around MOD's handling of personal information. ###

This position would suit an individual who enjoys a varied role and is passionate about providing a top-quality service.


The role requires:

Experience supporting or working with a Data Protection Officer or equivalent role. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex legislation and apply it pragmatically. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain legal and technical information clearly to non-specialist audiences. The ability to manage sensitive casework, including complaints and queries, with professionalism and discretion. A collaborative approach to working with colleagues across the wider MOD, its agencies, and other Government Departments. Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to support large-scale compliance programmes and ensure deadlines and legal obligations are met. Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018 is desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided.

Hybrid Working




Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office will also count towards this level of attendance. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


The successful candidate is required to carry out all their duties from a UK location and cannot do so from an overseas location at any time.
