Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Deli/ Shop Floor Assistant/Warehouse Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service both on the Shop Floor or while preparing and serving a variety of deli products. You will play a crucial part in ensuring food safety standards are met and that our customers have a delightful experience at our Shop/Deli. You will also help out at the warehouse packing orders, organising stock and labelling.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve deli items, including meats, cheeses, salads, and sandwiches, while adhering to food safety guidelines. Assist customers with their selections, providing recommendations and upselling additional products when appropriate. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the deli area and Shop floor, ensuring all equipment is sanitised and well-maintained. Handle food and drink preparation tasks efficiently, demonstrating strong time management skills to meet customer demands. Operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively while following all health regulations. Perform basic maths to accurately weigh and price products for customers. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods. Respond to customer inquiries and provide assistance as needed to enhance their shopping experience. Process transactions and take payment via cash or card. Help out in the warehouse at busy times packing online orders ready for dispatch via Royal Mail. Sorting out arriving stock and labelling.

Requirements

Previous experience in a retail setting is essential. Strong time management skills with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting. Familiarity with culinary techniques and food preparation methods is advantageous. Excellent communication skills with a friendly disposition towards customers. Basic maths skills for handling transactions accurately. Ability to use IT software and equipment (tablet) to process transactions. A commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene practices. Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently when required. Ability to lift up to 15kg.

Job Type: Part-time at the beginning, potentially turning to full-time towards Christmas.

Pay: Up to 13.50 per hour
