About the role
The purpose of the role is to ensure the engineering team consistently delivers high-quality, well-architected software aligned with company goals, while developing and motivating team members to perform at their best.
The Development Manager is responsible for leading and managing the software engineering team, ensuring the effective delivery of high-quality software solutions built on a modern
C#/.NET
technology stack. This role combines technical leadership, delivery management, and people management. The successful candidate will drive continuous improvement, maintain high standards of engineering quality, and ensure that the team delivers value in alignment with business priorities.
Responsibilities
Team Leadership
Lead, mentor, and develop 5 automation testers
Allocate resources across products based on priority and risk
Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement
Define and implement quality strategy and roadmap across products
Establish testing standards, best practices, and quality gates
Drive quality metrics, KPIs, and reporting frameworks
Champion shift-left testing and ensure compliance with standards
Test Automation
Architect scalable test automation frameworks using Playwright
Oversee automation coverage targets (85%+) and ROI metrics
Provide hands-on support for complex automation challenges
Optimize testing processes and CI/CD pipeline integration
Implement automation reporting and dashboards
Stakeholder Collaboration
Lead test planning for major releases
Communicate quality risks and progress to stakeholders
Build consensus on quality standards across engineering teams
Skills and Experience
Proven experience in a Development Manager, Software Delivery Manager, or Engineering Manager role.
Strong background in C#/.NET software development and modern architectural practices.
Demonstrable experience in leading teams to deliver high-quality software products to time and budget.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience with Agile delivery and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
Strong understanding of software engineering principles, design patterns, and development lifecycles.
Desirable Skills
Experience with Azure DevOps, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), or containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes).
Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful API development.
Hands-on coding or architectural experience to support technical decision-making.
Exposure to managing distributed or remote engineering teams.
