Inn Express Ltd is a family-run drinks distributor located in Haselor, Alcester. We pride ourselves on delivering a wide range of drinks, snacks, and sundries to establishments across England, ensuring quality service and customer satisfaction.

Summary

We are seeking a delivery route planner to join our team at Inn Express. This role is essential in coordinating logistics and ensuring efficient distribution processes. The Planner will play a vital part in maintaining our commitment to exceptional service and operational excellence. We operate out of 2 depots, the main depot which is located in Haselor, Alcester and where this job will be based, and a second depot based in Berkhamsted. You will be route planning for both depots.

Responsibilities

Route our delivery routes for the following day (32 from Haselor depot, up to 7 from the other). Maximize load capacity, reduce empty runs, and improve vehicle utilisation. Liaise with drivers, warehouse staff, and customer service teams to ensure seamless operations. Ensure all transport activities comply with legal, environmental, and safety regulations (e.g., driver hours, vehicle maintenance). Completing basic daily checks on drivers hours, workings hours etc to understand where each driver can be utilised for the following day/rest of the week. Lead planning meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and solutions.

Requirements

MUST have an understanding of vehicle/driver compliance.

MUST have previous experience in routing/route planning.

Must have strong computer literacy.

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Experience in logistics is essential. Solid understanding of logistics and managing complex transport operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good understanding of road transport regulations and compliance. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Working hours are 10:00 - 19:00, Monday to Friday, with a 30 minute lunch break. Overtime may be required, and the occasional Saturday for cover will be required, paid at overtime rate.

This is a fast paced environment, and you will be route planning for two depots, liaising with many members of management from both depots during your day.
