Dell hardware/ computer/ field engineer
Location: Taipei
Contract Duration: 6 months
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 - 17:00
Start Date: ASAP
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, English-speaking Field Engineer to provide hardware break/fix, installation, and support services across Dell server platforms and potentially some Cisco networking equipment. The engineer will work across multiple client sites and ensure high levels of service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide on-site hardware support for Dell servers and associated infrastructure.
Perform break/fix, upgrades, and maintenance on servers and potentially Cisco network equipment.
Assist with installation, configuration, and decommissioning of IT hardware.
Support troubleshooting and diagnostics of hardware and network issues.
Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of incidents, service requests, and changes.
Travel between client sites as required; FE must have own transportation.
Follow safety, security, and compliance guidelines at all client locations.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proven experience with Dell server hardware, including installation, maintenance, and break/fix.
Some experience with Cisco switching preferred.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for hardware and network issues.
English fluency - verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple sites.
Must have own transportation for site visits.
Desirable Qualifications:
Relevant certifications in Dell server hardware or Cisco networking.
Prior field-based experience in enterprise IT environments.
Experience with ITIL practices, ticketing systems, and asset management.
Notes:
This is a contract role for 6 months, with possibility of backfill coverage.
Candidates will be shortlisted and interviewed by the client before final selection.
Daily/Weekly Expectations:
8-hour workdays, Monday to Friday.
On-site visits to client locations as required.
Timely resolution of incidents and proactive reporting to client team.

  • Server and Storage Management: Install, configure, and manage physical and virtual servers, storage systems, and related hardware.
  • Virtualization: Implement and manage virtualization technologies including VMware, Hyper-V, and other relevant platforms.
  • Cloud Migration: Assist in the migration of services from cloud environments (AWS) to on-premises infrastructure.
  • Configuration and Maintenance: Perform configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of servers, storage, and network components.
  • POC Servers: Configure and manage Proof of Concept (POC) servers for testing and validation purposes.
  • Technology Gap Analysis: Identify and address technology gaps in current configurations and recommend improvements.
  • Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools for infrastructure deployment and management.
  • VDI Management: Manage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed technical documentation for all configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Compliance and Security: Ensure all systems comply with security policies and standards and maintain system integrity.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor system performance and utilization and implement necessary optimizations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the IT Infrastructure Architect (L7-1) to support strategic initiatives and future planning.

  • Private Cloud: Experience with private cloud platforms such as OpenStack, KVM, and VMware vCloud suite.
  • Infrastructure Services: Enable the design, planning, implementation, integration, configuration, and production support of infrastructure services across the IT workspace.
  • Functional Analysis: Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, and requirements allocation to evaluate compliance of system specifications with customer requirements.
  • Efficiency Improvements: Analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of infrastructure program procedures and processes and develop/recommend improvements.
  • Problem Investigation: Investigate problems in infrastructure and services and assist with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
  • Maintenance and Migration: Contribute to the planning and implementation of maintenance, migration, and installation work, ensuring system integrity and security.
  • System Reviews: Perform system reviews of client environments and prepare findings documents outlining short and long-term strategies.
  • Project Delivery: Define, document, and be responsible for the delivery of infrastructure projects or sub-projects.
  • Utilization Monitoring: Use tools to monitor infrastructure component utilization and performance statistics with regards to agreed SLAs.
  • System Information Maintenance: Maintain and document system information in line with compliance requirements and quality assurance standards.
  • Hardware & Software Lifecycle: Monitor hardware and software lifecycles and capacity.
  • Cost Optimization: Support cost optimization and ensure appropriate licensing.
  • Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system architecture and design documentation.
  • Innovative Problem Solving: Use innovative approaches to solve complex problems.
