Job Title: Demand and Inventory Planner
Division: Weir Minerals Europe
Location: Hybrid, Todmorden

Purpose of Role:

The purpose of this role is to create future focused / unfirmed demand plans that facilitate effective inventory and capacity planning, to convert those demand plans into inventory plans and to improve business KPIs including OTD, inventory turns, book & burn, and overtime reduction. This will help the business achieve end-customer needs.

The successful candidate will have business acumen, the abilities to analyse data in depth, to identify what the data is telling us, to communicate with multiple stakeholders, and the ambition to grow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture, organise and review demand requirements for WME, including:
  • Obtain consensus sales forecast of future demand requirements
  • Create statistical forecasts:
  • Gather, analyse and validate data
  • Model data statistically
  • Review resulting statistical forecast model
  • Apply error analysis techniques to improve forecasting
  • Summarize/aggregate statistical forecasts
  • Apply the appropriate model of statistical forecasts based on product lines / categories, history and market intelligence in making the forecast
  • Take into consideration both BoM header and, where appropriate, sub-component demand
  • Evaluate forecast results and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions
  • Develop demand forecasts (operational forecasts) at multiple levels of aggregation and recommend adjustments for operational forecast
  • Monitor and measure demand forecast accuracy and present implications
Inventory
  • Apply the final demand plan to the inventory plan in order to identify inventory setting changes to optimise inventory performance
  • Analyse and maintain optimal inventory levels through use of appropriate planning methodologies and levels, such as forecast, ROP & lot size, and safety stock
  • Classification of inventoried materials into ABC categories every quarter
  • Continuous review of inventory levels
  • Work with Product Managers and Sales Offices on the timely consumption of Slow and Obsolete, excess and free stock
  • Work on Inventory projects that will improve inventory KPIs
  • Analyse root causes of inventory issues and provide resolutions
  • Identify opportunities to optimise master data (inventory focus)
  • Support improvements in inventory turns, OTD and book and burn by optimising inventory performance
  • Create and maintain reports in SAP, Excel and PowerBI as appropriate
  • Continually refine forecast models, planning methods and SAP inventory settings to improve results
  • Support the business to achieve shorter lead times and higher OTD through demand and inventory planning
  • Work with SIOP Manager or others as appropriate on improvement programmes and facilitate them where appropriate
  • Ensure identification, monitoring and reporting of assumptions, risks and opportunities
  • Any other responsibilities commensurate with the role

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for candidates that have the ability to perform the objectives above.
  • Education to degree level or equivalent appropriate experience
  • Prior working experience in Supply Chain in an equipment manufacturing environment
  • Prior working experience with SAP
  • Demand or inventory planning expertise
  • Excel user with demonstrable knowledge and understanding
  • Experience using Power BI and SQL (preferred)
