We are looking for a hygiene therapist to come and join our team at Kimberworth Park Dental Practice working within the dental therapy foundation training programme.

Foundation Training for dental therapists is an excellent opportunity to develop undergraduate skills and become confident in clinical dentistry. As you transition from graduate into the world of work, Dental Therapy Foundation Training gives you the time, encouragement and guidance to succeed in your career as a Dental Care Professional.

Throughout the year you will be supported by the practice team and mentored by experienced clinicians to achieve your goals. Your progress within the scheme will be overseen by the Training Programme Director and your professional development is targeted towards your individual learning needs. The scheme offers employment within an approved, training practice within the Yorkshire and Humber region; 3 days each week.

Taking part in the training scheme provides security throughout your first year in practice. The salary will cover your working days in practice and any study days that fall within your contracted hours. This assured income allows you to manage patients free from financial pressure; meanwhile having flexibility to seek additional work on other available days.

Our practice is situated in Rotherham approximately 5 minutes drive from Meadowhall shopping centre and the M1. It is an 8 surgery NHS practice, all spacious and air conditioned and also fully computerised with digital radiography. We have a long track record of providing foundation dental, and foundation hygiene therapy training and offer a great opportunity to develop your skills within a supportive and friendly environment.

This opportunity is ideal for:

New graduates

(within the last 24 months) seeking a supported transition into NHS clinical practice

Dental therapists with less than 2 years of experience

who wish to

return to practice

and re-establish their full scope of practice in primary care.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

Hold a recognised UK qualification in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy and be registered with the GDC

OR

Be in their final year of study at a recognised UK Higher Education Institution and eligible for initial GDC registration by 01 September 2025
Additional requirements include:

Basic Life Support (within last 12 months or confirmation of completion before 1st Sept) Strong clinical, communication, and organisational skills Professionalism and commitment to CPD

Contract details:

1st September 2025 - 31st August 2026

Working Pattern:

Part Time - 3 days/week (21 hours)

Salary:

Agenda for Change NHS Band 6. Predicted 2025/26 salary: 38,682 (pro rata)

Pay: 26.19-42.30 per hour
