Job Description

With one of our lovely hygienists retiring this year, we have an exciting opportunity for another Dental Hygienist to join our friendly and welcoming team in the lovely historic market town of Bridgnorth, Shropshire. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of dental experience, enjoy working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and will have excellent communication skills with both patients and staff.

The position is fully private, for two days a week, on a Monday and Tuesday. Patients are booked between 9am and 5pm (with an hour's lunch break). The new candidate will inherit a stable patient list with new patients joining the practice on a regular basis. The diary is currently booked up for a good few months.

Responsibilities:

provide dental hygiene care to a wide range of patients obtain a detailed dental history from patients and evaluate their medical history carry out a clinical examination within their competence complete periodontal examination and charting and use indices to screen and monitor periodontal disease diagnose and treatment plan within their competence plan the delivery of care for patients give appropriate patient advice provide preventive oral care to patients and liaise with dentists over the treatment of caries, periodontal disease and tooth wear undertake supragingival and subgingival scaling and root surface debridement using manual and powered instruments give patients advice on how to stop smoking give infiltration and inferior dental block analgesia take care of implants and treatment of peri-implant tissues carry out oral cancer screening if necessary, refer patients to other healthcare professionals keep full, accurate and contemporaneous patient records
