Job Description

Overview

A dental therapist provides a range of preventative and routine dental treatments, including dental care, oral health education, and simple restorative procedures like fillings and crowns on baby teeth. They work as part of the dental team, taking X-rays,scaling and polishing teeth, applying fluoride and sealants, and extracting baby teeth. Their role also includes assessing patients, monitoring gum disease, and providing advice on dental care for patients of all ages. Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care:

Perform scaling and polishing of teeth. Apply fluoride and fissure sealants to prevent tooth decay. Take dental X-rays and impressions. Carry out routine dental fixes on baby and permanent teeth, and add crowns to baby teeth. Extract baby teeth. Monitor gum disease and chart patient health.

Oral Health Education:

Provide advice and education to patients and their carers on maintaining oral health. Identify broader health issues, such as smoking and diet, and take appropriate action.

Assessment and Monitoring:

Conduct tests to assess a patient's oral health. Monitor patient progress and follow treatment plans.

Teamwork and Professionalism:

Work as part of the broader dental healthcare team. Maintain professional development and adhere to professional standards.

Pay: 48,378.61-81,407.20 per year
