Role Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced

Urgent Care NHS Dentist

to join our Peterborough urgent dental service. You will be responsible for providing safe, efficient and high-quality care to patients referred via

NHS111

, delivering emergency and urgent dental treatment in line with NHS specifications.

This role is ideal for a dentist who is confident handling high-needs patients, comfortable making quick clinical decisions, and able to work in a fast-paced urgent care environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide urgent and emergency dental treatment to NHS111-referred patients Examine, diagnose, and manage acute dental problems including pain, swelling, trauma and infections Deliver appropriate urgent treatment (e.g., extractions, temporisation, pulpal extirpation, dressings) in line with NHS urgent care guidelines Ensure thorough safeguarding, medical history checks and clinical note documentation Keep accurate activity records for NHS reporting Work closely with the Urgent Care Service Manager to support safe patient flow Follow all CQC, NHS, infection control and LocSSIP requirements Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients who may be anxious, distressed or in significant pain Support escalation pathways for vulnerable or complex cases Participate in audits, clinical governance and mandatory training

Requirements

GDC-registered Dentist Valid performer number (or eligibility to apply) Experience in urgent or emergency dental care preferred, but not essential Confident delivering extractions, emergency endo, and managing acute infections Strong decision-making skills with the ability to work under pressure Excellent communication and patient-management skills Up-to-date indemnity, vaccinations and CPD Commitment to safe, high-quality clinical practice
