The Department of Information Studies (founded in 1919 and formerly called the School of Library, Archive & Information Studies, or SLAIS) is the only department in the UK with programmes in library and information studies, archives and records management, publishing and digital humanities. DIS provides students with an active research and learning environment across the information disciplines. In addition to its postgraduate programmes, the Department also teaches several courses at undergraduate level for students from other UCL departments.
About the role
The post holder is a member of the professional services team who will work with the Departmental Manager and the Teaching & Learning PS team, to provide operational support to the Department
Assist in achieving high quality and timely service to current and prospective students and staff related to general operations and beyond.
This role will commence in January 2026
About you
The post holder must be efficient, organised and take great care in attention to detail. In addition, the role requires interaction with many people within and external to UCL thus a professional attitude, willingness to help and a positive outlook are required to adequately execute the duties outlined.
The successful applicants will be educated to GCSE level or equivalent, or having acquired relevant experience.
With good computer skills, including using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and the internet, they will need to have good interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of people, including the ability to relate to staff and students in a teaching and learning context.
They will be able to prioritise and organise own workload, meet time-critical schedules and to collate and record information accurately using a variety of media.
The successful candidate be able to work independently and as part of a team and have great problem solving skills.
They will have a commitment to and knowledge of advancing equality, diversity and inclusion.
