Job Description

The Faculty of Classics seeks to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Classical Reception. Classical Reception studies have been an area of thriving interest within the teaching of Classical Languages and Literature. The post is for 12 months, 0.5 fte, on a fixed-term contract and available from 1 October 2025. The duties and skills required are described in further detail in the job description.

About the role


The postholder will be expected to engage in advanced study and research in their own areas of specialism, and to lecture, teach, and supervise both undergraduate and graduate students within the field of Classical Reception.

The successful applicant is expected to carry out teaching and examining on The Reception of Greek and Roman Literature in Poetry in English since 1900. You will supervise postgraduate students on the M.St. and M.Phil. courses in Classical Languages and Literature. The successful applicant is also expected to engage in examination assessment, graduate admissions processes, and Faculty administration.
