We are looking for a Depot Engineer Manager to join our Engineering team at Lothian
Job Purpose and Aim
We are looking for a Depot Engineer Manager to join our Engineering Team to ensure the smooth running of the depot 24/7, ensuring vehicle PVR is met for service requirements on a daily basis.
You will be responsible for organising and maintaining a high standard of workmanship within the engineering workshop, whilst maximising productivity and minimising lost mileage. Leading by example, you will motivate and help to improve staff in areas needed to achieve those goals. You will be responsible for preparing vehicles for MOTs to DVSA standards. You will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of safety, health and environmental arrangements are adhered to and that the highest standards of working practices and housekeeping are maintained, providing a safe working environment for staff at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the smooth running of the engineering department 24/7
Ensure all scheduled maintenance & service work are fully completed to Lothian standards
Monitor and control spend within a set budget, taking reasonable steps to ensure that budget provisions are managed effectively and efficiently.
Supervise all engineering staff
Ensure vehicle cleaning standards are met at all times
Ensure vehicle reliability is such that Peak Vehicle Requirement (PVR) is achieved and lost mileage is kept to a minimum
Ensure vehicle presentation and condition are maintained to company standards at all times
Provide guidance & support to all engineering staff and help development of apprentices
Ensure the workshop & garage is a safe place to work for colleges & visitors, following latest HSE legislation guidelines
Take all reasonable steps to ensure vehicles, property and plant assets are maintained in a condition which complies with company policy, H&S and environmental legislation
Conduct final preparation MOT checks
Monitor performance of supervisors and staff under your control and assist staff development, providing guidance and support when required.
Person Specification
You must possess a full UK driving licence
A PCV licence is desirable, however the ability to obtain a PCV licence whilst in our employment is essential
You will possess an appropriate NVQ/SVQ level 3 engineering qualification
Have a suitable track record in technical skills
Supervisory experience within the transport industry is essential
You must possess excellent communication skills
Have a positive attitude to lead by example
An in-depth knowledge of DVSA & PSV standards and current and up to date HSE legislation are essential
A certificate of CPC in passenger carrying vehicles is desirable but not essential, but you must be willing to obtain this qualification
