The Role
As our Depot Manager, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe operation of one of our key container depots. You will oversee all aspects of depot activity including container handling, maintenance, logistics coordination, and team supervision. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong operational and people management skills.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
Managing the day-to-day operations of the depot, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance.
Leading and supervising depot staff including operatives, drivers, and administrative support.
Overseeing container movements, inspections, repairs, and inventory control.
Coordinating inbound and outbound logistics with internal teams and external transport providers.
Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed and regularly reviewed.
Monitoring depot performance and reporting on KPIs, costs, and productivity.
Managing depot budgets and cost control measures.
Liaising with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure high service standards.
Supporting the wider UK operations team with projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Who are we looking for?
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Proven experience in depot, warehouse, or logistics management.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
Knowledge of container handling, transport, or storage operations is desirable.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
Competent in Microsoft Office and operational systems (e.g., inventory or logistics software).
A full UK driving licence is required; forklift licence is desirable.
