Job Title - Deputy Care Home Manager

Client Group - ESBD/ASD Children and Young People.

Hours - 40 per week ( based on a 4 week rota)

Flexibility is essential as this will involve weekends/evenings , to provide additional staff cover if required.

Essential - To have completed a Level 5 Qualification ( CYP) or QCF 4 and a proven track record in working within the residential child care sector in a management leadership position.

A clean UK Drivers Licence

IT competent with good recording and reporting skills.

Performance Management and Development of Staff

To deliver in-house induction training if required.

Mentoring skills.

NB:

This post holder will be expected to have the ability and confidence to stand in and cover in the absence of a registered manager at either of our registered children's homes. With at least a good 2 - 5 years management experience in residential childcare .

You must have sound knowledge of Risca Regulations , CIW judgements, Safeguarding protocols, quality assurance , monitoring and review systems.

Job Purpose



As a Deputy Manager with SICS GOFAL CYMRU CYF , you will play a vital role in leading and supporting a dedicated team to deliver high-quality, therapeutic residential care for children who have faced significant different levels of trauma in their lives. . Youll foster a safe, nurturing environment that promotes healing, resilience, and personal growth, where each child feels valued and secure.

In this role, you will work closely with the Registered Manager to uphold the highest standards of care, in line with our Statement of Purpose and trauma-informed principles. Your leadership will drive positive practices, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a culture of compassion and accountability. You'll empower both staff and young people, oversee care plans, and provide guidance that builds a cohesive, supportive team environment.

Outline Of Duties



Duties

The following duties are those which the post holder is required to fulfil.

1. To support the Registered Manager in ensuring a high quality of care service is delivered and maintained effectively in accordance with relevant legislation and regulations.

2. The work in accordance with SICS own care standards and apply them to your own working practice and support colleagues to apply them to their own practice.

3. To support & develop care workers to have the skills, knowledge and ability to manage residential care workers effectively. This includes staff supervision's, and performance management of staff.

4. Responsibility for organising staff rotas as advised by the Registered Manager.

5. Ensuring that staff understand and are fully aware of the daily routines of the home.

6. Work within organisational policy and procedure established in the home

7. Ensure that all staff are aware of their roles and responsibilities in relation to the Children's Home Regulations for Wales (RISCA)

8. Ensure that all staff are made aware of all relevant legislation

9. Ensure that children's reviews and meetings are delivered within the required time scales.

10. Ensure both local authority and internal care and placement plans are in place and that staff fully understand their role.

11. Chair, or participate in meetings and reviews, as and when required.

12. Ensure that the standards expected in the delivery of care are upheld and the standing of the organisation is maintained.

13. Take the lead in ensuring an open culture is created, one in which children can complain and that they are listened to.

14. Ensure that all staff work within a non-discriminatory environment

15. Assist the Registered Manager in the administration of financial related issues.

16. Undertake and participate in any training programmes which are relevant to the employment of staff working in children services, paying particular regard to residential care. To ensure that all staff complete and return training certificates and feedback forms.

17. Deputise in the absence of the manager and cover for team leaders where necessary.

18. Ensure staff fully understand the role of a key worker and make sure systems are in place for the delivery of this practice. To monitor what is taking place and the quality of work being delivered.

19. Promote and actively encourage the professional development of staff.

20. Ensure that all administrative requirements of the home are maintained in such a way that they are compliant with good childcare practice, homes procedures, Company policies and Children's Regulations.

21. Ensure staff are aware of and deliver the support required to ensure the life chance opportunities of the young people for their social, educational, leisure, emotional, physical, and cultural needs are met.

22. Produce, coordinate and edit reports.

23. To contribute to the on-call system

24. Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

25. Where required be involved in the staff recruitment process.
