About Us



Due to continued expansion of the company, there is now a fantastic opportunity to join our ever-expanding Residential Children's Home provisions. We are looking for an experienced Deputy Childrens Home Manager to join us.

Our children's homes provide person centred support and care for children and young people between the ages of 6 and 18 years with a variety of different needs and requirements. The homes we have are set up to accommodate up to 2 young people and are registered as EBD homes and are located in Ellesmere Port and Chester.

Job Purpose:



We are looking an experienced deputy manager who has a background specialising in residential services that work with children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Your role will be to assist the Registered Manager with the effective and efficient management of our 2 Registered Children's Homes. The successful applicant will assist our Registered Manager to create a warm, homely, caring environment within the homes whilst catering for the children, taking into account the needs of the individual. Further to this, you will assist in the planing, organising and management of the homes. As a deputy manager you will be required in ensuring the highest standards of physical, social and emotional care is delivered, exceeding any guidance and standards set by Ofsted.

Your main responsibilities will be to:

In the absence of the Registered Manager, to be responsible for all administration / child care functions at the home To assist the Registered Manager to promote good child care practice within the home Day to day supervision and guidance of staff regarding standards of care in line with the regulations for Children's Homes, quality standards, company policy and procedures and other relevant legislation To play a significant role in supervision of Team Leaders and Key Workers encouraging them to be responsible for and accountable to senior staff in ensuring effective assessment monitoring, planning and evaluating for each child takes place. To ensure that full and complete casefile records for young people are maintained and that good decisions are made and carried out in order to support the child. To assist the Registered Manager in ensuring specific plans are carried out. To be directly involved in Case Conferences, Reviews and Planning Meetings and to chair meetings as required or requested To compile written reports as and when necessary To carry out any specific tasks as delegated by the Registered Manager To assist the Registered Manager to manage and control all financial budgets allocated in the home To assist in the process of identifying training needs within the team and participating in enabling these needs to be met. To complete out of hours on call duties
The right candidate will have excellent organisational, interpersonal and effective supervision skills. The candidate will have the ability to cope with and remain calm in challenging and demanding situations and be flexible to meet the needs of the home.

Working hours



You will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week, Monday through to Friday.

Salary



36,500.00 per annum with the OTE between 2,200.00 and 4,000.00 through oncall management payments

Qualifications and Experience:



Full driving licence and own vehicle is essential due to the need to move across 2 homes

A relevant qualification is essential (minimum level 3 but preferably Level 5 Diploma / NVQ in childcare or equivalent or working towards Level 5).

Strong knowledge of Ofsted, Quality Standards and relevant legislation

2 years' experience in a residential childcare setting.

Adults and Children's DBS on the update service is desirable but not essential.
