Job Summary




Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Deputy Director of Admissions to start in January 2026.




We are seeking an exceptional and experienced Deputy Director of Admissions to join our highly successful Admissions Department.

We welcome applications from candidates with both a teaching and non-teaching background.




Brighton College receives a significantly higher number of enquiries and applications than there are places available. The Admissions Department plays a vital role, therefore, in ensuring a professional, efficient and friendly welcome and process for parents, guardians and, above all, pupils. In most cases the Admissions team will be the first people with whom prospective families have contact, and each member of the team must, therefore, ensure that all those who visit the school receive a warm, friendly and informative introduction to life at Brighton.


As a senior member of the Brighton College Admissions team, the Deputy Director of Admissions will work closely with the Director of Admissions and will have certain line management responsibilities within the department.


Person Specification




We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual with a strong leadership background in admissions, marketing, customer service, or a related role, ideally with experience of a boarding environment and background in education within a leading Independent School.


The successful candidate will be comfortable managing teams, overseeing complex logistics and running successful events. They will maintain the highest standards of organisation and administration and will have outstanding attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. They will be adept at putting people at their ease and making all feel welcome.

Background Knowledge:




In addition to commercial awareness and the ability to promote the College in a competitive market, the successful person will have:


IT proficiency, including Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and using the College's suite of admissions systems, including ISAMS.

Ability to analyse data and produce reports to inform strategy and decision making.

An understanding of the visa and compliance processes for international student admissions.

Main Duties and Key Responsibilities:




Events and Representation:




Represent Brighton College at both internal and external events (UK and International), presenting at events and showcasing the College to prospective families and building strong connections with key stakeholders.

Take the lead on post-event follow-up to nurture relationships with prospective families, ensuring the development of strong, ongoing connections with potential future pupils.

Working with the Deputy Head (Staff) to oversee Open Mornings and other major events in the Admissions Calendar for prospective families and pupils.

Key Stakeholders:




Ensuring individual visits for prospective families are a positive experience including meeting prospective families during their visit to the College.

Developing relationships and links with Prep Schools by visiting and overseeing academic staff visiting feeder schools to ensure a year-on-year flow of applicants at relevant entry points.

Establish strong relationships with prospective families throughout the admissions process ensuring the highest standard of communication.

Admissions Strategy (working alongside the Director of Admissions and Director of Marketing):




To input into marketing and admissions strategy developing approaches for the recruitment of all pupils for Brighton College.

Working with and developing ties with the Brighton College International schools and Brighton college Family of Prep Schools.

Being responsible for increasing registrations and acceptances from new overseas countries. This will include the need for international travel.

Being responsible for looking at strategies to increase registrations and acceptances from local day pupils.

Line Management:




Line managing the Senior Coordinators and Admissions Office Manager.

Deputising for the Director of Admissions on all aspects.

Additional responsibilities include:




Innovation: reviewing and developing best practice within the admissions sector.

Providing effective and efficient advice for the admissions team for them to respond to enquiries from prospective parents.

Working with the Tutors of Admissions to ensure the assessment and interview process for prospective pupils at all entry points, including scholarships is as good as possible.

Running the Head Master's list entry point for late applicants looking at 13+ places.

Attending results meetings and being responsible for the results spreadsheets.

Working alongside the Admissions team to ensure consistency in parent experience across all entry points.

Liaising with overseas prospective parents and agents as required, supporting them with visa applications and overseeing appropriate assessments for pupils.

Working collaboratively with the Admissions Coordinators to organise Taster Days and other social events for prospective parents and pupils.

Keeping up to date with regulatory requirements for admissions, and other key guidelines.
